Hazelnuts grow in Europe and Asia. The fruit is the nut called hazelnut, with the round or a little oval shape with hard and bright brown shell. Inside there is edible kernel.
They contain about 65% of fat, 16% of protein, 35% of sugar, viatmines and mineral salts, potassium, magnesium and copper.
The hazelnuts harvests are in September. Then they are transported to processing plant, where they are sorted because of quality, and where the information regarding the origin, producer etc. is made. Shelling is a process of separation the kernel from the shell. After shelling the kernels are calibrated in order to precise a size and to eliminate the unperfect kernels. Some kernels are destinated to be sold directly with skin (brown and thin cover), the others are blanched, what means the scales are being removed.
They occur in different forms: as the diced used in cakes, ice-creams, as the hazelnut paste used in chocolate bars and chocolate sweets production. Other processed product is milled hazelnut used as basic ingredient in baking industry.
Also the oil is produced from hazelnuts used in cosmetic products and delicious edible oil.
Different tests proved that eating the hazelnuts decreases the risk of heart diseases, because they are effective weapon against cholesterol. They help to prevent from the cancel development, they stimulate the immunologic system and prevent from microbes.
